The University of Nebraska- Omaha Mavericks made school history by qualifying for their first NCAA Division 1 baseball tournament. Omaha gets the automatic bid by winning the Summit League tournament this past weekend in Tulsa in three games.
The Mavericks (31-22-1) won the Summit League wire-to-wire, also capturing the regular season crown. They had won conference regular season titles in 2013 and 2014 but were ineligible for post-season play as they were going through the division 1 reclassification process. Omaha also qualified for 2007 Division 2 College World Series.
The Mavs draw the #1 overall seed UCLA, in the Los Angeles regional. The Bruins are 47-8 and will host this weekend’s regional at Jackie Robinson Stadium beginning this Friday May 31st. Baylor (#2) will play Loyola Marymount (#3) in the early game while the Bruins and Mavericks square off at 7pm CT.
