CWS Quick Hit: Auburn

This week, we’ll take a quick look at each of the teams that will be making the trip to Omaha for the 2019 NCAA College World Series. 

Conference: SEC

2019 record: 38-26

CWS opening opponent: Mississippi State (Sunday 6:30 p.m.)

Regional: defeated Coastal Carolina, Georgia Tech (twice)

Super Regional: defeated North Carolina in three games 11-7, 0-2, 14-7

 

Team Leaders:

RHP Tanner Burns (4-3, 2.73 ERA, 100 K’s, 1.05 WHIP)

LF Julian Edouard (.248 AVG, 9 HR’s, 14 2B’s, 54 RBI)

OF Rankin Woley (.282 AVG, 3 HR’s, 17 2B’s, 45 RBI)

LHP Jack Owen (4-2, 2.83 ERA, 58 K’s, 1.09 WHIP)

 

Notes: Auburn returns to Omaha for the first time in 22 years. The Tigers made their 22nd NCAA tourney appearance this season and lost in heart breaking fashion last season to Florida in the super regional series. Auburn has won back-to-back regional titles. This season, The Tigers were below .500 in conference play finishing 14-16 while hitting just .265 as a team.
