The Nebraska football team announced today that senior wide receiver J.D. Spielman is temporarily away from the team and back home in Minnesota dealing with a health issue. Head Coach Scott Frost released this statement:

“JD Spielman is dealing with a personal health matter currently, and at this time is not expected to participate in spring practices. Everyone’s focus right now is on JD’s well-being and providing him with the appropriate support. We anticipate JD returning to the team in time for summer conditioning.”

It was also announced that kicker Barret Pickering and receiver Jaevon McQuitty plan to retire from football and pursue medical exemptions. Nebraska begins spring practice on Monday March 9th.
