For the past two weeks I have talked about supporting local businesses during this tough uncertain time. We have all had to be mindful and careful on how we spend our money and what we spend it on. I continue my weekly trips to Hy-Vee usually to get our food for the week and any other essential items and recently I stopped by the Wine & Spirits department. I was going to grab some beer and headed towards one of my favorite beers, Lagunitas IPA. I stepped back and remembered that this is the perfect time to do my part in helping our local breweries and we have some fantastic ones. Nebraska Brewing, Kross-Strain, Infusion, Zipline, Lucky Bucket, Empyrean, Kinkaider and so many others.

Obviously it’s not the same as going directly to these businesses and their various tap-rooms but I figured we are lucky to have these great brewers in the area so why not do my part and grab a six-pack from a local company. Keep the demand going any possible way. I picked up a sixer of Zipline’s Post-Hype on Friday night. The next night I grabbed some of Empyrean’s Mind Over Mango IPA. It’s never a problem finding great local selections at Hy-Vee. Not only do they have a huge craft beer selection but they have just about every local brewer that currently distributes. Please think about our local craft beer community during this time when you make your next stop at Hy-Vee.
