As you know, Hy-Vee carries a large variety of wine, spirits, and beer. It’s always been my go-to spot for some of my favorite local craft beers. They also have a huge selection of wine year-round, but in the fall you can also pick up seasonal autumn and Halloween-themed wine. There are some creative ways of turning your favorite spirits into different delicious spooky concoctions. I have already ranked my favorite fall Oktoberfest beers, but how about some Halloween craft cocktails? The October Seasons magazine, which is free at your neighborhood Hy-Vee, has some very intriguing drink recipes that I had to try. Wouldn’t you know it, the one I started with involves a Sam Adams beer.
Pour yourself a nice cold Sam Adams Jack-O-Pumpkin and simply add nutmeg and cinnamon to give it a full fall finish. I have to say it was awesome.
Sticking with the fall beer theme, try the Orange Moon. You take a Blue Moon Belgian white, pour it over ice. Gently add 1 ounce of Aperol over the back of a bar spoon and garnish with orange zest.
