New York Jets Helmet - week #3 of the 2019 NFL Pre-Season Game Thursday August 15th 2019

New York Jets guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, 26, may miss the upcoming 2025-26 season after suffering an injury during practice on Tuesday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted on X that “Jets fear that guard Alijah Vera-Tucker suffered a season-ending torn tricep. He is getting a second opinion to confirm the injury and see if surgery is necessary;” Schefter later reported that “this is now the second time Jets G Alijah Vera-Tucker has suffered a triceps injury in his NFL career. He also went down with the same season-ending injury back in 2022, but that was on the opposite arm to his latest tricep injury.”

Vera-Tucker, the Jets’ first-round pick in 2021, is in the final season of his rookie contract, which includes a $15.3 million guaranteed salary. The fifth-year guard played only seven games during the 2022 season after injuring his other triceps, and upon returning the following season, he missed 12 games with an Achilles tear.

Vera-Tucker is a key part of the Jets’ offensive line and was voted as one of the team’s captains earlier this week by his teammates. If he is out for the season, center Joe Tippmann could be potentially be shifted to right guard with Josh Myers going under center.
